The Gunstock Adaptive Sports Center is a special part of the Gunstock Mountain Resort. People with physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges team up with trained volunteer instructors and learn to fly! In the words of Lauren Brennan, a 12-year old blind skier, "It's kind of scary at first, but if you like freedom, you'll love skiing. It feels like you are flying like a bird."
Participants in the Adaptive Sports Program bring many different impairments and challenges when they come to the mountain. They discover a new lifetime winter sport that can be shared with family and friends. Students are thrilled to experience the freedom of sliding down a snowy slope unencumbered by their everyday mobility issues.
Come and enjoy the day with us!
Students bring the courage to face a new challenge and experience. At Gunstock Adaptive, getting started is easy. For first time skiers a "Learn to Ski" package is always free. The package includes a first time evaluation, familiarization with the adaptive equipment, and one and a half hours on Gunstock's learning areas.
People have choices as to which winter sport they want to participate in. We give lessons to skiers of both Nordic and Downhill. Snowboarding is popular with many of the people who come to us. We even go Snowshoeing! All disciplines are taught by our well trained volunteer instructors to ensure a memorable time on the snow.
Lessons are available on weekends, weekdays, and during holiday periods. In order to ensure the availability of adaptive equipment and instructors, reservations are suggested, walk-in's are welcome. To schedule a lesson or obtain more information, please call the Gunstock Adaptive Sports Center locally at 603-737-4365 ext. 165 or 603-293-4341 ext. 165, toll free at 1-800-GUNSTOCK ext. 165 or email to aski@gunstock.com.
